What is a wax pattern?
A wax pattern is actually the same product that we want to get in metal, only made of wax. Usually, wax patterns are obtained with the help of a mold and a wax injector.
What is the purpose of a wax pattern?
In short, wax patterns are needed to produce a product in metal. Multiple wax patterns are assembled into one large pattern to be cast in one batch pour. In this situation, patterns are attached to a wax sprue to create a pattern cluster, or tree. Then the model blocks are poured with the molding compound. The form cools down and hardens. After that, the form is placed in a kiln and heated there. When heated, the wax melts and flows out of the form. The form is left with the cavities that repeat the shape of the pattern.
